Who it's for

Written for students who

  • AA SL students who want one book that covers the whole course without the extension material of HL.
  • Students who can do the textbook exercises but find exam questions harder to start.
  • Students revising for mocks or the final exam who need to see which question types matter most.

Beyond the topics

The last chapter is about the exam itself: how to pace a paper, where marks are commonly thrown away, and a timed Section A to practise on.

Worked solutions to the practice questions are free on the publisher's site: IB Maths AA SL worked solutions.

How each chapter is built

The same four-part pattern runs through the book, so you always know where you are.

  1. Start from the examEach chapter opens with How IB asks this: a count of how the topic has appeared on the papers since 2021 and which question types carry the marks, so you know where the time should go.
  2. One question type at a timeEvery type gets its own section: the signal in the wording that tells you which type it is, the method, a worked example and the slip that costs most students the mark.
  3. Marked the way examiners markWorked solutions show M1, A1 and R1 against the lines that earn them, with margin notes where marks are usually lost. You see exactly what a full-mark answer has to contain.
  4. Practice in three roundsBasics to build the skill, Tutorial to apply it, then Mastery at full exam standard. Worked solutions to every practice question are free online.
