Questions

How do TOK and EE bonus points work?

Your Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay grades, each A to E, are read together from a matrix that gives 0 to 3 extra points. Two A grades, or an A and a B, give the full 3. An E in either one gives no points and is a failing condition on its own, so the bonus can lift a total but cannot rescue a core E.

What are the IB Diploma pass conditions?

You need at least 24 points and CAS completed, with no E in TOK or the EE and no grade 1 in any subject. You may have at most two 2s and at most three grades of 3 or lower. You also need 12 points from HL subjects and 9 from SL subjects (5 if you take only two SL). Meeting 24 points alone is not enough.

Do HL and SL grades count differently?

No. A 6 is worth 6 points at either level, so all six subjects add up to at most 42. The level matters only for the separate HL and SL minimums. With four HL subjects, your best three HL grades count towards the 12, and your two SL subjects need 5 between them.

Is 24 points always a pass?

No. A student on 30 points can still miss the Diploma, for example with a grade 1, an E in TOK, or only 11 points at HL. That is why this calculator checks every condition, not just the total.

Can I use this for predicted grades?

Yes. Enter your predicted or mock grades to see where you stand and which condition is closest to failing. The calculator is an estimate; your final results come from the IB.
